Buena Vista
Buena Vista & Haight Street, San Francisco, CA 94117
This is a beautiful park! It is very steep, however. The accessibility to the park is limited to those who have good cardio! At least if you want to see the top. It has a lot of impressive beauty with fantastic roots of gnarled trees almost like from some other world. Some years ago, the “illicit” operations that were taking place in the park made it not a family -friendly or desirable place to be. But now, however, it is almost totally redone, and almost like a new park. Get a blast from the past walking through this amazing park, and enjoying all the views it has to offer!
This is a lovely park with many stairs and inclined roads but, as its name indicates, with outstanding views. I love to come here and hike up and down the trails. They aren’t very difficult, minus the incline. Other than that, the trails are well tended to, and they are pathed very well. I have never had a problem with any kind of debris in the pathways.
The park also has plenty of rich blackberry bushes. I don’t know if pesticides or any other growing supplement were used on them, and I do not recommend eating the berries without washing them first. However, I tried some last year and they were AMAZING! The fruit was so much better than what was in the stores, and I was almost sorry I didn’t grab anymore. I am not sure if we are supposed to take them, but they were not hidden behind a fence or anything, and I thoroughly enjoyed them.
On my third visit to San Francisco, I accidentally found this park. I instantly fell in love with it, and I fell even more in love with the beautiful town of San Francisco. Take time to go to the top and find a lovely spot to sit and watch the sunset, or sunrise. I would suggest you go with someone, particularly at night. I felt just fine going by myself during the day, but I do know that the park has lots of hidden trails, and I did seem some homeless people around the park as I was strolling around. This is a great place to come after dinner and just stroll until the sunset. The surrounding area is very nice, and there are plenty of good restaurants to eat at and explore!
