About the City of Dublin, California

Dublin (formerly, Amador and Dougherty’s Station) is a suburban city in the East Bay of California. It is located in Alameda County’s Tri-Valley region’s Amador Valley. Dublin is located along Interstate 580 at the junction with Interstate 680, around 35 miles (56 km) east of San Francisco, 23 miles (37 km) east of Oakland, and 31 miles (50 km) north of San Jose.

In 1835, José María Amador was rewarded 16,500 acres for unmatched services as a Mexican soldier and administrator at Mission San Jose in the valley which was later named after him: Amador Valley. Half a century later in 1850, Irish settlers purchased land from Amador and established their own town.
